Interested in submitting a public service announcement?

Here's what you need to know.

Who’s Eligible?

Nonprofits. And specifically, nonprofits that have a 501 c 3 tax exempt status.
Not a 501 c 3? No PSA. PSAs are also available to student, alumni and staff groups registered with the University System of Georgia.

I’m eligible! So now what??

The PSA Director requires that all PSAs be submitted at least two weeks prior to the requested air date.
So if your nonprofit has a big event on April 15th, don't submit a PSA request on April 14th.

PSAs can be submitted via

What kind of information should I send?

Submissions must include the following information to be considered

Are there any restrictions/rules as far as the content/copy of the PSA?

Tons!

What format is best?

Script is preferred, but PSAs my also be submitted on CDs.

How long can my PSA be?

We like to keep them under 60 seconds.

I have submitted my PSA. Will it be aired?

The decision to air PSAs is at the discretion of the PSA Director. Organizations submitting PSAs via email will be notified if their PSA has been selection.

Why was my PSA not selected?

PSAs submitted later than two weeks prior to the requested air date, not containing the proper information, correct tax paper work and/or poorly written will not be given priority.

WRAS does not air PSAs for faith based or political organizations. WRAS does air PSAs for faith based and political organizations associated with the University System of Georgia.

Cool. Well, when can I tune in to hear my PSA?

PSAs for 501 c 3 organizations are aired at 36 minutes past the hour and PSAs for USG associations are aired at the top of the hour (1:00, 2:00, 3:00).

WRAS uses a rotation to air PSAs. The frequency of air play depends on the number of announcements in rotation. For example, with 36 PSAs are in rotation, your PSA will air once every 36 hours. The number of PSAs in rotation changes daily as PSAs are added and removed from rotation. It is not possible to pinpoint the exact time that your PSA will air.

After your PSA is removed from rotation it is possible to obtain the times and dates that your PSA was aired, but this would be after the fact. Requests for this information must be emailed to the PSA Director.

Can I send you my press releases?

Heck yeah! We love press releases! But if you are interested in a PSA a press release is not sufficient. The information listed above (yeah, all that junk) must be included.

So check out the examples below for an idea of what is currently in rotation at WRAS!
