Create a wireless "CatChat" connection to the Georgia State network on a Pocket PC (CE2002) using the Movian VPN client.

Before Beginning:

  • Read Wireless Access.
  • Know your computer login userID and password.
    Students: This is the userid and password you enter when logging into your student email account or a campus open-access lab. If you do not know yours, visit http://www.student.gsu.edu/ for assistance.
    Faculty/Staff: This is your Novell userid and password.
  • You must have a Wireless Network Card properly installed on your Pocket PC.

Setup Procedures:

Step 1. Configure Your Wireless Network Card for the Georgia State Wireless Network.

    1. Insert the wireless network card, and then turn on the Pocket PC.
    2. Go to Start.
    3. Select Programs.
    4. Select the appropriate program for your wireless card, and click the icon.
    5. Click Configuration.
    6. Click Network SSID to configure SSDS for the network.
      1. Enter CatChat and press Enter.
      2. Click Apply.
    7. Press IP Configuration and verify that either IP address, or DHCP, is checked.
      This confirms that you have a server-assigned IP address.

Step 2. Verify Connectivity to the Wireless Network.

    1. Open a Browser.
    2. Type in wireless.gsu.edu and press Enter.
      If you see Welcome to the GSU Wireless Network you are connected. If not, close the browser and try reconfiguring your wireless card.

Step 3. Install the Movian VPN Client on Your Computer.

Part A. Purchase and Download the Movian Software (movianVPN):

    1. Go to http://www.moviansecurity.com.
    2. Purchase and download the movianVPN files as per the vendor's instructions. If you need assistance, contact the Movian Customer Service department.

Part B. Extract the Files onto Your Hard Drive:

    1. Click Open Folder or use Find to locate the .exe file.
    2. Double click the movianVPN.exe entry.
      The movianVPN Install Wizard will extract the files needed to install movianVPN on your hard drive, and then the movianVPN Installation Wizard will open to guide you through the install.

Part C. Configure the Client:

    1. Click Next to continue
    2. Read the License Agreement, and click Yes to accept.
    3. Select a location for your program folder (or accept the default), and then click Next.
      You will be informed that the next time you synchronize your device, movianVPN will be installed on your handheld.
    4. Click OK.
    5. Click Finish.
      The folder location for movianVPN documentation will automatically open.
    6. Synchronize your handheld device to install movianVPN by first placing your handheld in the cradle, and then clicking sync.
    7. Perform a soft reset.
      The movianVPN license agreement will appear.
    8. Click Yes to accept the movianVPN license.

Part D. Create a Policy:

    1. Open the movianVPN application:
      1. Tap Start.
      2. Select Programs.
    2. Tap the Movian icon.
      The movianVPN application window appears.
    3. Tap New.
      The movianVPN Policy window appears.
    4. Enter Movian for the Policy Name.
    5. Tap Please select one to open the pull-down menu.
    6. Select Cisco VPN Concentrator 3000.
    7. Enter wired.gsu.edu for the Gateway Address.
    8. Confirm that the Use Extended Authentication box is selected.
    9. Tap Continue.
      The Cisco VPN Concentrator 3000 window appears.
    10. Enter the Group Name : movian
    11. Enter the Group Password : S3cur1tyJ0b1
    12. Enter the User Name : (your novel network userID)
    13. Tap DNS/WINS.
    14. Confirm that Query DNS/WINS is checked.
    15. Tap Continue.
    16. Tap IKE Suite in the Cisco VPN Concentrator 3000 window.
      The IKE Crypto Suite window appears.
    17. Set the following options for IKE Crypto Suite:
      1. In Group, select GRP2_DH-1024.
      2. In Cipher, select 3DES_CBC.
      3. In Hash, select MD5.
    18. Tap Continue.
    19. Tap IPSec Suite in the Cisco VPN Concentrator 3000 window.
    20. In IPSec Crypto Suite, select ESPIP_3DES_MD5-96.
    21. Tap Continue.
    22. In Cisco VPN Concentrator 3000, adjust the SA Life setting to time-out the gateway as desired (recommendation is 1 hour).
    23. Tap Done.
    24. Tap Options.
    25. Tap Connection Type.
    26. Tap the entry for your wireless card.
    27. Tap Done.
    28. Tap Login to connect to the gateway.
    29. Login by entering your userid and password when prompted.
