Before
Beginning:
- Read
Wireless Access.
- Know
your computer login userID and password.
Students:
This is the userid and password you enter when logging into your student
email account or a campus open-access lab. If you do not know yours,
visit http://www.student.gsu.edu/
for assistance.
Faculty/Staff: This is your Novell userid and password.
- You
must have a Wireless Network Card
properly installed on your
computer.
Setup
Procedures:
Step
1. Configure Your Wireless Network Card for the Georgia State Wireless
Network.
- Insert
the wireless network card, and then turn on the computer.
- Click Start,
then point to Settings.
- Click Control
Panel, then click Network & Dialup Connections.
- Locate your
Wireless Network Connection (it will be labeled
whatever you named it during the install), and right-click
on it.
- Click Properties.
- Click Configure.
- Click Advanced.
- Select
Encryption, and set value to disabled.
- Select
SSID, and change SSID to CatChat
.
- Click
OK.
- Click
OK again, to close Adapter Configuration
page.
Close the window.
Step
2. Verify Connectivity to the Wireless Network.
- Open a Browser.
- Type in wireless.gsu.edu
and press Enter.
If you see Welcome to the GSU Wireless Network
you are connected. If not, close the browser and try reconfiguring
your wireless card.
Step 3.
Download the CISCO IPSec Client Software.
- In
wireless.gsu.edu, click Downloads.
- In
Welcome to Wireless Networking, click Begin.
- In
Welcome to Wireless Networking, scroll to the
bottom of the page and click I Agree.
- In
Wireless Networking, click Windows.
- In
Security Alert, click OK.
Authentication and download should start in 5 seconds.
- In
Enter Network Password:
- Type
in your userid and password.
- Click
OK.
- In
File Download, click Save.
- Create
two new folders:
- One
called
GSU Software.
- Within
GSU Software, create a CISCO IPSec
folder.
- Double-click
on the CISCO folder, and then click Save.
- In
Download Complete, click Close.
Close the window.
Step
4. Install the CISCO IPSec Client Software.
- Go
to your desktop:
- Click
GSU Software folder.
- Click
CISCO IPSec folder.
- Double-click
CiscoVPNClient4_6.exe .
- In
CiscoVPNClient4_6.exe, click OK.
- In
Cisco IPSEC VPN Client for Windows Ver4.6, click
Next.
- If
the selected extraction path is OK with you, click Next.
If not, select another one and then click Next.
- Click
Yes to agree to the license agreement.
- In
the Welcome window, click Next.
- Click
Next, again.
The installation will begin.
- In Digital
Signature Not Found, click Yes to continue.
- Check Yes
to I want to restart my computer now,
and then click Finish.
- Log back
into your computer.
Connect:
- At
your desktop, click Start.
- Point
to Programs.
- Point
to CISCO Systems VPN Client.
- Select
VPN Client, and double-click.
- Select
Wireless VPN.
- Double-click
the Connect icon.
- Enter
your userid and password, and
then press Enter.
You are connected to the wireless network.
Disconnect:
- Right-click
the Lock icon in your Task bar.
- Click
Disconnect.
The Lock icon will "unlock" to indicate a disconnect.
Close the window.
