Assistant Director (Systems)

Keith Campbell

Keith Campbell is the Assistant Director of University Computing and Communications Services (Systems) for Georgia State University. In his present position Keith is responsible for overseeing the design, implementation and management of Georgia State’s central computer servers.

 

Previously, he managed the Operating System Support group and served as Senior Lead MVS Systems Programmer for the University mainframe. Keith started his IT career as a Georgia State student-assistant terminal room consultant and has been on staff with Georgia State since 1988.

 

Keith played a key role in the GoSOLAR project as Team Leader for the technical infrastructure team. This team designed and implemented a complex and robust server infrastructure of over 40 servers that is able to support 1000 plus concurrent students. GoSOLAR brought the University to a modern client server student information system based on SCT Corporation’s Banner software.

 

Keith served a crucial role in Georgia State’s Year 2000 efforts managing remediation for UNIX systems and the upgrading of the mainframe OS from MVS to OS/390. He served as a member of the Spectrum technical team that designed and implemented the infrastructure for PeopleSoft financials.

 

Keith has played a vital role in Georgia State’s hosting of the University System of Georgia library and instructional resources. Georgia State and the University of Georgia co-host GALILEO, an award winning portal for online academic journals and databases for the University system and the citizens of Georgia. GIL at Georgia State hosts the electronic library system for 20 of the University systems 35 institutions. The Georgia Public Library System (GPLS) is hosted by Georgia State and provides electronic library services to 44 regional library systems and 248 libraries. WebCT provides web-based instructional resources for the 35 University System of Georgia institutions.
