The Centers for Teaching and Learning and Teaching and Learning with Technology, with support from the Provost, are offering funding to enable up to four, full-time faculty to work on a project which would promote student learning at GSU. Beginning in the 2007-2008 academic year, the selected faculty members will begin work as Fellows of the Centers for Teaching and Learning/Teaching and Learning with Technology. Each Fellow will be released from one course for each of two semesters and receive technical support from the Centers. The released time may include the equivalent of a summer course. As Fellows of the Centers, these faculty will be recognized as partners is the Centers’ work and have access to the Centers’ resources. Fellows will be expected to meet periodically with the Centers’ Directors and to make a presentation to the University community on the accomplishments of their project.

Priorities for this years projects include:
1.	Developing resources and procedures for a unit to more effectively assess student learning for GSU’s general education outcomes.
2.	Facilitating the assessment of critical thinking through writing courses across several majors (GSU’s Quality Enhancement Plan for accreditation).
3.	Assisting in the adoption of new models for a college or set of departments to assess teaching effectiveness as a function of student learning.

To Apply:
Applicants will write a description of the proposed project (maximum of 4 double-spaced pages) that addresses the following topics:

·	The Importance of the Project (especially how the project fits into departmental, college, and/or university goals/strategic plans);
·	Anticipated Outcomes and Impact of the project (specific changes should result from the project and how broadly will changes impact student learning);
·	Plan for implementing the project (this can of course be modified during the course of the project);
·	Resources that might be available beyond the released time that will promote the completion of the project (these might include commitments of support from chairs or deans, linkages with other units in the University—UETS, University Library, Writing Across the Curriculum, etc);
·	How will success be Evaluated (describe how evidence of success be documented and likelihood of success)?

Submit the attached coversheet with the signatures of the departments chair(s) and dean(s) whose programs are involved in the project, project description, and a two-page vitae of the applicant for the Fellows award. Nominations are due to the Center for Teaching and Learning by 5 PM on February 19, 2007. Nomination materials will be reviewed by a committee of CTL/TLTC Advisory Committee and recipients of the awards will be notified by March 12, 2007.
