July 14, 2008 Group to hold protest at a Georgia State University building Monday, July 14, 2008The city of Atlanta has issued a permit to Operation Save America, an anti-abortion organization, to conduct a protest and news conference at the Cititzens Trust Building (CTB) at 75 Piedmont Ave. NE on Monday, July 14, 2008, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. A spokesman for the group has said that the focus of this protest is the offices of Planned Parenthood, one of the tenants in the CTB, and the group expects less than 50 people will attend. The city's permit allows a peaceful assembly on the sidewalks in front of the building. All Georgia State University services and operations will conduct business as usual during the date and hours of this protest. This means that access to and from the building should not be impeded by the activities of the protest. However, please feel free to use the rear access to the building during the time of the protest. Georgia State University Campus Police have plans in place to ensure public safety at and around the building. If you have concerns about safely entering or leaving the building, please contact University police and ask for an escort. Please be advised if you're in the immediate area, University officers or law enforcement officers from other jurisdictions may have more immediate public safety directives that are important to follow. The city of Atlanta has also issued Operation Save America a permit to gather in Woodruff Park from Saturday, July 12 to Saturday, July 19, from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. during those days.
