Athletics department to hold annual mascot tryouts

ATLANTA — It’s a new school year, and there are some big paws to fill.

On Aug. 30, the Georgia State athletics department will hold its annual mascot tryouts, giving students the opportunity to showcase their school spirit in a unique way — as Georgia State’s beloved Pounce.
Pounce will represent Georgia State at athletics events and tournaments, as well as at other school functions, charity events and community programs. Some travel is required, and the student chosen as Pounce must commit to appearing at every basketball game.

Candidates must prepare an original two-minute skit and will also participate in situational skits and an interview. Paperwork required to participate in the tryouts includes a copy of the student’s class schedule, a current physical and a copy of the student’s insurance card, as well as the tryout form available under the Pounce section of the “Traditions” tab on www.georgiastatesports.com.
