Leadership ability is one of the most sought after qualities by employers. Leadership Georgia State and the LEAD Team offers monthly and semesterly programming on a variety of topics designed to help you reach your full potential. This is the ideal place for new students to begin their Georgia State leadership journey. Attending these programs will not only help you begin building useful skills, but also connect you to campus resources and other active student leaders. With the wide variety of programs offered, you are sure to find something of interest

Emerging Leaders GSU1010

The Emerging Leaders Freshman Learning Community is a specially designed program for first year students, and the first step toward becoming a student leader at Georgia State University . Emerging Leaders is designed to enhance leadership skills and potential; foster interpersonal, social, ethical, and moral development; and instill an attitude of social awareness and responsibility. What you will experience through Emerging Leaders in your first year at Georgia State University will provide you with opportunities for further involvement in campus life, introduce you to other students and campus administrators, and enhance your personal growth and development.

A unique aspect of this Learning Community is the participation in an overnight summer leadership retreat. The retreat includes an outdoor adventure experience and interactive games that will allow you to get acquainted with fellow classmates before classes begin. Whether you were highly involved and motivated in high school or have a desire to become active at Georgia State , this FLC is an excellent choice.

Monthly Programs

Monthly Leadership Programs are opportunities for students to learn about leadership through a format other than a traditional lecture. If you would like to learn more about a specific leadership concept or skill or how to apply leadership skills after college, these programs should be right up your alley. Each month features a different theme. These programs are an excellent way to connect with student leaders from Georgia State and begin thinking about the practicalities of leadership differently!  LeaderShape

The LeaderShape Institute is an interactive, energizing and unique experience that builds leadership skills no other program can match. To date, approximately 18,000 participants have graduated from the program from all over the world. In each session, young leaders from across the state of Georgia will learn with and from one another about how they can “make a difference” in their campuses, communities, organizations, and causes. But be prepared! It is six days of non-stop self-discovery and learning from practical experiences that build your leadership concepts and abilities. It's go, go, go 12 hours a day... And you'll love it!
