Hours are subject to change based on usage. Check signage posted outside the climbing wall for current hours.

An member of the Student Recreation Center my participate in free "try climbing". In order to belay or lead climb one must first be certified through a certification hours Any regular participant at the climbing wall be strongly encouraged to obtain their belay certification.

Always bring your Panther Card.

CERTIFICATION CLINICS
A certification clinic is strongly recommended but is not required. In the 2-hour certification clinic will teach belay skills, policies and procedures for use of the facility and introduce some climbing skill information. The participant will need to successfully complete a written an practical test and sign the Climbing Wall Use Agreement. Participants need to complete a written and practical test and sign the Climbing Wall Use Agreement to be certified for use of the Climbing Wall. The test and Use Agreement will be kept on our computer database for one year at which time each certified user will need to complete a quick re-certification skills test for use the subsequent year. There is a $2 fee charged only for the initial clinic.

CERTIFICATION CHALLENGE
Experienced climbers have the opportunity to demonstrate practical belay skills and complete the written test concerning policies and procedures - without instruction from staff! Failure to perform proper skills will result in the need to attend a full certification clinic. Register and pay at the Touch the Earth desk.

How to Register for Certification Clinic/Challenge
Register and pay for certification clinics at the Touch the Earth Outdoor Rental Center located at the back of the Student Recreation Center with a separate outside entrance. The Touch the Earth Outdoor Rental Center is open Monday-Friday, 10 a.m.-6 p.m. OR register in the climbing wall during open recreation hours. Payment for clinics is also accepted at the Equipment Issue Desk and bring your receipt to the climbing wall attendant. Pay with cash, check or Panther Cash.

CERTIFICATION RENEWAL
Certification is valid for one year. Renew your certification and receive a new card by demonstrating proper practical skill to the on-duty climbing wall supervisor and by signing a new Climbing Wall Use Agreement and you will be updated in our computer database.No pre-registration is required. No cost to renew.

KIDS CLIMB
Children ages 8 to 16 may use the climbing wall when supervised and belayed by certified parent/guardian.


Beginning Outdoor Rock Course
This one day trip is open to all levels of climbing but will be oriented towards the beginner outdoor climber. We'll take you out to a popular rock climbing destination in Georgia to test your outdoor climbing ability and put learned skills to test. Combine this with the Rock Climbing Clinic to take advantage of the full instructional course.
