Configuring your Internet Explorer (Windows) Browser

  1. Sun Java 1.5_05 must be installed on your computer for WebCT to work. Click here for Sun Java installation instructions.
    Depending upon your connection speed, this should only take a few minutes.
  2. Open the Internet Explorer browser.
  3. Select Tools.
  4. Select Internet Options.
  5. Select the General tab, if its not already selected.
  6. Click on the Settings button under Temporary Internet Files heading.
  7. Select Every visit to the page.
  8. Click OK.
  9. Select the Security tab.
  10. Click the Custom Level button.
  11. Under the Miscellaneous category, locate Userdata persistence.
  12. Select Enabled.
  13. Click OK.
  14. Select the Privacy tab.
  15. Click and drag the slider bar to the Medium setting.
  16. Click Edit under the Web Sites heading.
  17. In the Address of Web site bar, type gsu.view.usg.edu
  18. Click the Allow button.
  19. Click OK.
  20. Select the Connections tab.
  21. Click the LAN Settings button.
  22. Select Automatically detect settings.
  23. Click OK.
  24. Select the Advanced tab.
  25. Uncheck Show friendly HTTP error messages.
  26. Check Use Java.
  27. Uncheck Microsoft VM, if listed.
  28. Click OK.
  29. Check to see if you have Microsoft Service Pack 2 (SP2) installed by clicking here
  30. After making all of the above changes, close Internet Explorer and re-open it. The changes will now take effect.
