Getting Your Syllabus Online

GSU hopes to have all course syllabi online soon. At GSU online syllabi are available from the course listing which may be accessed from the Registrar’s Home Page at http://www.gsu.edu/~wwwreg/. To see the listing go to the URL and find "From Schedule of Classes for:" then select " Fall '99", then select "Course Listing" and follow directions to see the class of your choice.

Syllabi can easily be placed online. Different ways to place a syllabus online are given below.

WebExchange: This is the easiest way to place your syllabus on line. Simply submit an electronic copy of your syllabus formatted in Word or WordPerfect to WebExchange at webexchange@gsu.edu with a request that they place it on the WEB and link it to the registrar’s course listing. The easiest way to do this is to send them email with the syllabus as an attachment. They will do the rest. You may visit the WebExchange Home Page at http://www.gsu.edu/~wwwebx/

DocuWeb and Courses on professors' personal accounts: Syllabi in DocuWeb (http://docuweb.gsu.edu/) and personal accounts may be linked to the Registrar's course listings.
After your courses' material is on the web it may be added to the Online Course Catalog (http://www.gsu.edu/courses) by submitting your information via this online form: http://www.gsu.edu/~wwwets/web/catalogform.html or by contacting WebExchange by phone (404) 651-0830 or by email (webexchange@gsu.edu).

WebCT: Recommended only for people using WebCT for their course.
To put your syllabus where it can be seen without entering a password, it should be placed on the Welcome page. Assuming that you have the syllabus in Microsoft Word, use the menu "File/Save As HTML" to convert the Word document to a web page. Then use the menu "View/HTML" to show the HTML source on the screen. Mark & copy all the text between the <BODY> and </BODY> tags. Then go to the designer view of WebCT, click on "Welcome Page", "Customize Page", "Header", "Add", Text/Image". Then click your cursor into the "Text:" box, and paste from the menu "Edit/Paste". You can do other modifications to the page from this screen. Then click the "Add" button at the window (may need to scroll down to find it).

To get the link put in the online schedule, e-mail the URL (e.g. http://webct.gsu.edu/public/PSYC3010wkr/index.html) to WebExchange at webexchange@gsu.edu.
