About vClass

Welcome to vClass! vClass, an Elluminate product, is a virtual classroom technology. It has an intuitive, graphical interface that provides a powerful and easy-to use collaboration environment. It enables you to talk over the Internet, chat online, and share whiteboards and applications with other participants.

vClass has been made available to Georgia State faculty, students and staff, via the Student Technology Fee. Currently we have a total of 650 seats but a site license will be available beginning fall 2007. Seats are available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

What You Should Know Before Getting Started!

  1. There are two types of sessions in vClass - Meetings and Courses
  2. There are two types of roles in vClass - Moderators and Participants
  3. vClass is not the same as uLearn! vClass is a realtime virtual classroom technology. uLearn is a course management system

Technical Requirements

To use vClass as a moderator or participant you must have:

  • Access to the Internet
  • Java Web Start software installed (see the Elluminate website)
  • Microphone, or if you are using a computer lab, a headset

Policy

Please allow two business days for scheduling a Meeting and ten business days for scheduling a Course. Faculty and staff may request a meeting, but only faculty may request a course.
