The self-tests listed below consist of 10 sentences each. These tests will give you practice in recognizing and correcting wordiness. If you can correct wordiness on these tests, you should be able to edit your own work for instances of wordiness. The best solution is not always obvious, so take your time. Before taking a self-test, please carefully study the lesson on wordiness.
When you have completed the self-tests for each of the topical areas (i.e., wordiness, passive voice, and punctuation), please take one or more of the comprehensive self-tests to evaluate your overall writing skills. We also request that you complete the short Exit Questionnaire.
