Speakers at the reception announcing the Distinguished Chair, hosted by Cox Enterprises, April 12, 2007
The Distinguished Chair of Public Safety Partnerships (PSP) was endowed in February, 2007, with $1,000,000 from numerous supporters. The purpose of the PSP's is to support the long-term viability of the Georgia International Law Enforcement Exchange (GILEE) and the International Law Enforcement Enterprise (ILEE).
By supporting GILEE and ILEE the Distinguished Chair of Public Safety Partnerships will help ensure the provision of better public safety in an era of international terrorism and increasing challenges of property and violent crime. The PSP strives to enhance public safety by nurturing existing and new partnerships within and across public agencies and the private sector. The PSP is committed to promote GILEE and ILEE efforts towards a better understanding of the challenges to public safety and how to best address those.
The Distinguished Chair of Public Safety Partnerships will provide support to and rely on two well established programs that have been operating at Georgia State University:
Dr. Robert R. Friedmann is the first Public Safety Partnerships Distinguished Chair (2007 - 2010).
Nadia Borissova is GILEE and ILEE Assistant Director.
