Project:
Forecasting:
This project should describe the use of Excel to
construct time-series and regression models. Use these techniques to build the
Firm Demand model. Your report should follow the steps outlined in the
"the Modeling Process". This project covers Objective Hierarchy,
Variables and Measures, Influence Diagrams, Mathematical Model Development and
Testing and Validation.
DSS Development:
This part covers the implementation phase of the
modeling process. Implement the models you developed in the forecasting project
in a Decision Support System - or, create a spreadsheet model for forecasting.
In designing the spreadsheet model, clearly delineate
between inputs and outputs, and between the various types of inputs (estimates
and decision variables). Include a section on testing and validation of the
DSS.
DSS Implementation and Use:
This part covers the DSS use phase of the Modeling
process. Demonstrate (with examples) how the forecasting model can be used for
decision support. Cover sensitivity analyses, scenario analysis, and
goal-seeking analysis.
