Homework Assignment 2: Group Differences

Start with a COPY (not the original) of your Assignment 1 spreadsheet.  Right click on the tab label for the chart and delete the whole tab.  Delete the analysis columns you've done for Assignment 1. Delete all the columns except for JOBSAT, EDUCAT, and  College Grad?

Use Insert column to add two new columns right next to the JOBSAT column;  label one of the Grad-Sat and the other won NoGradSat.

Sort your entire data area by College Grad? descending, copy the JOBSAT for all the college grads into the column labeled
Grad-Sat, and copy the JOBSAT for all the people who are not college grads into the column labeled NoGradSat.

Select, tools, data analysis, descriptive statistics and run summary statistics on JOBSAT, Grad-Sat and NoGradSat, including  a "confidence level for mean" of 90%

Also follow the instructions in http://sofia.whalen3.org/Hypothesis.html  to test whether the mean JOBSAT of employees who have graduated from college is different from the mean JOBSAT  of employees who have not.

The spreadsheet should look like 07key2,pdf.  Attach the spreadsheet of an email
addressed to 7020 [a] whalen3 [dot] org.
The subject line of your email must be the three characters HW2 followed by one space and your name.
PLEASE do not use a different subject line; it interferes with the emails going where they need to go to be graded!
Do not combine multiple assignments into the same email.

In the ***BODY*** of  the email (NOT a Word or Excel attachment!) answer the following questions:

1.  Can we be 95% confident that the average job satisfaction of all employees (including those not in this sample) is below 60?  What one specific number did you compare with 60 to answer this?

2.
Can we be 95% confident that the average job satisfaction of all employees (including those not in this sample) who graduated from college is below 60?  What one specific number did you compare with 60 to answer this?

3. Can we be 95% confident that the average job satisfaction of all employees (including those not in this sample) who did not graduate from college is below 60?  What one specific number did you compare with 60 to answer this?

4. Can we be 90% confident that the average job satisfaction of all employees (including those not in this sample) who graduated from college is different from that of employees who dod not?  What two specific numbers did you compare to answer this?

Note: You needed a lot of numbers to answer these questions; please give me ONLY the numbers in the VERY LAST STEP.  You will lose points for including any other numbers.
