4.

Helps to get an overview of how some business decisions are made.

5.

This course really helped me understand some basic micro-economics decisions and general ideas.

6.

Microeconomics was a way for me to apply thngs in the real world to the things I was being taught in this class. I would hear something on the television and be like "I heard this in my economics class."

7.

kept interesting. made since

8.

Covered material sufficiently for a beginner course.

9.

A relaxing change of pace in my heavy, stressful senior load. I believe I learned the appropriate amount and quality of material for the level course that it was.

10.

This course was challenging and made you think

11.

this course does a good job of teaching us how to go about making economic decisions.

12.

learned a lot

13.

The subject matter gives insight to the general functions of the market structures of our society and some variables that influence them

14.

Enthusiastic teacher and fun too.

Instructor strengths.

1.

Dr. Frost communicated material to students very well. What was very helpfull is how she not just explained the concepts but also showed how to used these concepts to solve problems. Also, Dr. Frost likes the graphs and we had to learn all the different details about the graphs and that really helped because it made me think "outside the box". I also want to mention that I would recommend Dr. Frost to any student with no reservations whatsoever. I took Econ 2105 with another professor and it was disaster. This class was a pleasure. Combining "traditional" teaching methods with "non-traditional" (we played several games demonstrating conepts like marginal product, average product, etc) really helped me learn and made this course fun. Thanks, Dr. Frost!!! You are one of those teachers who will always be remembered by students.

2.

relatable to sudents made course fun and exciting and easy to understand

3.

Very enthusiastic in the material, keeps the student interested

4.

5.

Explained the subject clearly by giving personal examples.

6.

She was very knowledgable of the subject material.

7.

Dr. Frost is a very knowledgeable person and very easy to approach. She had online review sessions for exams and quizzes, she really made us prepare welll enough for the exam. She was very effective in her teaching. Overall, she was an excellent professor! Thanks for a great semester Shelby! Maybe i'll even change my major to Economics (environmental econ!)

8.

Very Effective.

9.

Shelby Frost is a wonderful teacher who made sure that the students understand the subject being taught. If we did not understand a topic in class, she did not mind going over it again. If there was something that we still did not understand she always suggested that we go to her office and she would help us. I really liked how she gave out handouts so we could practice more. Shelby also made economics fun. I took Economics Fall Semester 2002, but the teacher did not explain it thoroughly like Shelby does. If I read something, I understood what I read. She made coming to class very exciting. I really liked the way she taught the subject. When there was time for a test she did not mind havind a Review Test Discussion. I learned a lot in this class. Shelby is an amazing teacher who cares a lot about her students and cares if we are understanding the subject. I know she made me understand Microeconomics better. I really enjoyed this class. Thank You for all your help Shelby Frost.

10.

Nice, willing to work with students, and understands we are busy.

11.

she made things interesting. she gave wonderful examples that helped to understand the confusing things. she understood some people wouldn't get everything, so she made a way for them to understand/ make a good grade by extra credit by learning

12.

Very lively, very effective communicator, thouroughly enjoyed the course.

13.

Was effective in communicating and explaining the material to those who needed the help.

14.

Very knowledgeable. Relaxed and funny, yet precise, clear and thorough.

15.

It was very helpful that mrs frost was knowledgeable on webct and offered much information and class work on webct. I enjoyed having her as my instructor and I will take any class I need that she intructs.

16.

She was very fair and creative in making the information tangeable with creative games

17.

Shelby is a great instructor. She does a great job of relating the material to everyday life. The best teachers are those that can take complicated material and present it in a manor that is easy to learn. Shelby this is what you do. Keep doing what you are doing!

18.

very friendly, relates well to students

19.

communicates well with the students; keeps the learning enviroment fun and exciting while at the same time incorporating her teachings into the activities.

20.

Shelby is fantastic!!! IShe really made learning economics fun and appliable to every day life. She was thorough and energetic in presentation and knows economics like the back of her hand. She is truly the best teacher I have ever had and she has truly inspired me.

21.

Course weaknesses.

1.

The same material comes up over and over again

2.

j

3.

Sometimes it was hard to relate to and I found it hard to understand the graphs.

4.

At times the course material was a little vague to understand.

5.

None in my opinion

6.

None.

7.

i didnt get a lot of it the book was not written clearly multiple choice tests were sometimes confusing

8.

Spent too much time on material covered in Macro.

9.

To much information and a little to graph heavy

10.

I was somtimes not able to see a direct corrolation between the material and how I could use those principals to solve some of my own economic questions. As a student I feel a good course is one in which you can take each consept and use it to better your endevour in one way or another.

11.

too many graphs, numbers, etc, instead of concepts

12.

The course itself should put a greater emphasis on real life examples rather than theoretical and hypothetical situations that one is more prone to forgetting.

13.

nothing

Instructor weaknesses.

3.

The test were extremely too hard. They confused me.

4.

None, she was great!

5.

I know there were no weaknesses.

6.

i really don't think there were any

7.

Spent too much time on basic concepts that were clearly stated on the prereq's as required knowledge. If a student doesn't understand basic math and college algebra is required, then that student is responsible for learning the material, not the class's. Also, sometimes, one person was allowed to comment and ask questions that did not pertain to the subject matter or was simply repeating what was already said, wasted class time! This sometimes put you on a tangent. Strengths greatly outway weaknesses.

8.

Possibly a bit too easy on the students.

9.

Her web cite was to icon heavy and it was so many that it got to be a turn off. It need to be streamlined to me more effective.

10.

Shelby likes math too much.

11.

none

12.

moves a little bit too slow for me personally but again that is not her fault but rather the class as a whole.

13.

nothing

Course suggestions for improvement.

4.

None.

5.

Arrange Macro and Micro such that the same material is not covered again. Possibly one course as a prereq for the other, or seperate courses for those requiring both courses.

6.

Make the web page more user friendly. Try to loose some of those Icons Put more games into the course. That really helped me out even if you do not get points. Have less people in this class

7.

challenge students to look for ways directly incorporate economic principals into their lives.

8.

Put a greater emphasis on real life examples, and try to incorporate a few economists guest speakers to try to explain to the students an economists work.

4.

When explaining new material it might help to explain the material in terms that everyone can understand not just those who have taken Caluculus.

5.

She does not need to improve anything. She is doing a great job.

6.

Limit the tangent discussions and give less extra credit.

7.

Entertain tangent questions to less of a degree.

8.

Nothing. I like her just the way she is

9.

I think it would be a great idea to have the students do a project that required them to show how they have incorporated one of the economic principals into their careeres and have them show how using that specific principal facilitated one particular task they preformed. Or maybe at the begining of class you could have each student submit an economic problem he or she is trying to solve. Then that student could be challenged to seek solutions to that problem in the text or in the lectures.

10.

Overall great teacher not really much i can tell her to change.

11.

Stay the same

Comments on classroom environment (for example: temperature, audio/visual equipment, visibility, etc.).

1.

everything was in good shape

2.

3.

needs updated technology. Sometimes the overheads were hard to read.

4.

Classroom environment was nice, but the temperature could be monitored better. Sometimes get too cold...too hot. Visual equipments worked great, computer was a little slow sometimes.

5.

There was nothing wrong with the visual equipment. I could see everything.

6.

There were ants in my classroom (100 CS)

7.

Chairs very uncomfortable and noisy.

8.

Fix it so that the overhead projector and the computer projector can be used at the same time.

9.

One of the two doors was locked 95% of class days. Gives an unpleasant vibe to reach for door to class and find it locked.

10.

Thought that some individuals monopolizd the room with there comments and may have been to advance for this course. Would like a smaller classroom setting

11.

everything was fine. the instructor put the projectors to good use.

12.

the classroom we had used an overhead projector that projected the image in a bit of a slanted form.

13.

nice room
