Course strengths.

1.

Relatively easy to understand book

2.

the relevance of the topic transcends disciplines and becomes a necessary skill for any undergraduate student.

3.

I was able to understand and follow the in-class lectures very well.

4.

The opportunites for extra credit is great! The webct quizzes allowed us to practice the material we learned from the text. Being forced to read the text and take the webct quizzes PRIOR to class discussions made me a better prepared student. Also, having immediate feedback and unlimited attempts to complete the webct quizzes provided me with more learning opportunities. Having access to old exams, old quizzes, exam reviews, etc. all helped make learning the information a lot easier. There were many other learning tools available to me that helped in the learning process as well ( textbook website, etc).

5.

Great for math oriented learners. There was a lot of visual graphs.

6.

In-class activities which explained economic concepts in easy to understand ways.

7.

Instructors system of teaching, ability to explain everything in words that make even the slow minded students understand.

8.

ON point, and webct very helpful

9.

it's a required course

Instructor strengths.

1.

She made the class fun. That to me was important considering it was a 3 hr class. Her methods of teaching were upbeat and she almost always got the class involved.

2.

Application of material, energetic teaching style, differentiated instruction, good use of technology

3.

Shelby is articulate and knowledgable. She has the ability to conect with students and explain some things in "lay man's terms".

4.

She was always very excited to be in class and never acted in a way that made you not want to be there also.

5.

I have learned more about economics (and math!) than i thought possible. Dr. Frost is an awesome instructor! She uses very creative teaching strategies that help cement the economic concepts she is teaching. I walked into Dr. Frost's class not liking economics (or math) as a subject, but walked out with a greater appreciation and understanding of them both. I now understand how these subjects affect us everyday. Thank you for a great learning experience!

6.

The best teacher I've had at GA state. Humor and creativity was her strongest points that separate her from the rest of the teachers. She was always prepared and I did not ever want to miss a class.

7.

Dr. Frost is able to understand the confusion behind the question you are asking and explain the concept clearly

8.

She has a system that encourages students to participate in field exercises that strengthens their knowledge of the subject taught in class / love the "buy your grade" system using dollars instead of points! / It is great how she allows us to take home our test after we take it so we can check our answers online later that afternoon! / Proficent use of WebCT!

9.

Great job

10.

Fun, interacts alot with the class, knowledgable about the course content

11.

relates well to students, keeps subjects interesting

12.

the games were my favorite part... it made our long class period fly by

Course weaknesses.

1.

time - alot to learn quickly

2.

There is a felling of vagueness at the end of the course, as if the subject matter was not worth the effort to understand it beyond the tests and grades. Micro is a great course and it is important because of the many implications that economic reasoning has in our society.

3.

The webct generated tests. I just was not able to do as well with those kinds of tests.

4.

Half of our grade is pushed to the last week of class.

5.

It's economics, not a very interesting or exciting topic.

Instructor weaknesses.

1.

Shelby has a habit of remainding students how much she likes the mathematical component of the course and tends to focus too much in it at the expense of other aspects of it, which, I think, has the effect of exasperating students, because the course is a multidisciplinary introduction to the study of economics. Perhaps, Shelby would be more effective if she dedicates more time in her lectures explaining other very important aspects of the course, not only her favorites.

2.

nothing

3.

None!

4.

Nothing comes to mind.

5.

used exams from the author of the textbook's website. all material was straight from the text.

Course suggestions for improvement.

1.

Emphasis on the impact of economic reasoning in everybody's life could be a good begining.

2.

Less Webct questions on the tests.

3.

The book was not entirely useful. The author was knowledgable but there was something missing from the book. The end of chapter questions did very little in preparing us for her tests.

4.

Keep doing the same thing/ Course output is at a maximum

5.

better exams

Instructor suggestions for improvement.

1.

We know you like math, do you want to expand on some of the students questions?

2.

nothing

3.

Never change.

4.

Thanks for a great semester

5.

none, the instructor does a wonderful job.

Comments on classroom environment (for example: temperature, audio/visual equipment, visibility, etc.).

1.

av equip was slow at times, tvs mounted were in the way

2.

Too hot and cramped.

3.

The class was set up well.

4.

The small class was great. All of us connected to the teacher.

5.

The equipment seemed to give Dr. Frost problems at times, but she coped well.

6.

It was a little cold in the classroom

7.

the timers interupted the class constantly. remove the timers on equipment in classroom south or have the option of making them longer

8.
