Grading for Sound System of English: AL/TSLP 832 Return to Sound System Course Syllabus

This 5-credit course will be graded using the conventional letter grade system. Final grades will be determined as follows:

1. Leading Seminar Discussion groups on Assigned Days (10%)

2 Participating in Seminar Discussions (conventional seminar expectations) (5%)

3. Conscientious engagement with internet- and EMail-related activities (10%)

4. As appropriate, assisting your classmates with learning, practicing, and/or extending their abilities to complete E-mail and internet-related tasks (5%)

5. Take-Home Midterm (25%)

6. Final Exam (if offered) (15%)

7. End of Quarter Course Project ===> 30% (or 45% if final exam is not offered)

We may be exploring options such as (a) written dialogue journals with a group of ESL students from one of the department's ESL writing courses, (b) written participation summaries on your own contributions to our seminar discussions, etc. The options we follow in the course will depend upon several (as of now) intangible factors including our interests/needs, the interests/needs of teachers in the department's ESL/EAP program, the interests/needs of ESL students, etc. Return to John Murphy's Home Page | AL/ESL Home Page JMMurphy@gsu.edu | Return to Sound System Course Syllabus
