How to run the Independent-Samples T Test procedure

1. Build the Data Set

2. Run the Procedure

a. Go to Analyze, then Compare Means, then Independent Samples T Test to start the procedure. You will see the dialogue box to the right.

b. Highlight the dependent variable name
and click on the arrow by Test Variable;

c. Highlight the independent variable name
and click on the arrow by Grouping Variable;

d. Define Group and reset Options, then OK.

 

 


3. Read the Output

The procedure generates two tables. The first one is the descriptive statistics and the second is the results of the T test. In this example, the difference is highly significant, t=5.061, p.=000
