2. Link to Federal Financial Institutions Examination Council (to download Uniform Bank Performance Reports). Click on "Search for a Uniform Bank Performance report. Enter your FDIC number or institution name. After that, it is pretty self-explanatory. Use the custom function to create year-end annual data (the default is quarterly). Use the Export button to download the data. In the dialog box, add a .txt to the name to make it easier for Excel to recognize (not necessary, but makes it easier). Get pages 2, 3, and 4. You might want to download some of the other pages, but you will need these three. Alternatively, you can get data from this FDIC site (good for thrifts), or from your bank's annual report if it is available. 3. Example of Analysis Spreadsheet for Hibernia 4. If you have trouble finding data for your bank or do not have data for three years, send me an e-mail and we will work something out. 7. Regulators can pick any bank to analyze. 8. Some people have inquired about peer comparisons and the ratios provided in the UBPR. The UBPR provides comparisons to peer groups in several of the pages in their report (e.g., page 1). These peers are chosen based on size and economic environment. However, the UBPR uses the average of the average assets for each of four quarters, not the average of the beginning and ending assets for the year, so your numbers will be a little different. The peer group will be identified as PEER# (e.g., PEER1, PEER2, etc.). To see the peers in your group, go to the main FFIEC page http://www.ffiec.gov/UBPR.htm and click on all UBPR Statistical Reports. Then click on List of Banks in Peer Group and select the number in the PEER# for your bank. Note, I do not ask you to compare to peers for the analysis, only to interpret the trends. 9.
