Development of Culturally Responsive Curriculum

Directed by Dr. Jackie Irvine of Emory University, the project is in its third year and is resulting in curriculum in Language Arts, Social Studies, Mathematics, and Science that represents basic principles of culturally responsive knowledge. Curriculum projects have been completed, reviewed by experts, presented at conferences, and readied for classroom testing.  

Dr. Armento heads up the GSU team for this project, providing conceptual leadership and guidance to each of the writing teams, detailed editing and revisions of the written curriculum, and co-leads the writing of journal articles.

Korean Curriculum Project

A three-part curriculum development project (high school, middle school, and elementary school) that involves development of instructional materials for American schools about Korea. Writers for the project include educators from across the country. Dr. Armento leads conceptualization of the project throughout the writing, editing, design, and publication process.

PREP Site

Grant funds awarded by the Board of Regents for a PREP site at GSU. The role of Dr. Amento and the MSEIT department will be to identify volunteers who would tutor seventh grade students in three Atlanta City middle schools.
