IT 3210: Teachers & Technology
Learning Environment Portfolio Guidelines
The purpose of the portfolio is to demonstrate the various elements
and materials found in your learning environment. The work should be submitted
in a three-ring binder with labeled dividers. What you are trying to demonstrate
is how you have grown beyond the lab exercises, and how you used the applications
in a particular unit to develop your learning environment.
The following should be represented in your Learning Environment Portfolio
in the following order:
-
Description of the learning environment, including: metaphor/theme being
employed, grade level design for, and purpose/goal of the learning environment
-
Description of the physical space in which the learning environment will
be created (graphical representation is optional)
-
Unit Plan*, describing the duration of the unit, the overall intent of
the learning environment, and how individual lessons and the learning stations/centers
will be used to achieve the overall purpose/goal and objectives of the
learning environment
-
Two Lessons*, consisting of the following elements:
-
Analysis of the learners and their backgrounds
-
Design of the lessons with objectives clearly stated
-
Development of the necessary instructional materials (at minimum,
four technologies used during the course must be utilized in the learning
environment).
-
Description of the activities that will take place during implementation
-
Description of how learners will be evaluated, along with how the
effectiveness of the learning environment will be assessed
-
Design Team Responsibilities list, containing information on each member
of the team and the work for which they were responsible in the Learning
Environment Portfolio
NOTE: All work included in the Portfolio should be prepared using
the appropriate media. For example, the Unit and Lessons Plans should be
created using a word processor.
Learning Environment Portfolios are due no later than
Monday, December 13, 1999 (Exam Week) by 5pm.
*You may write up the Unit and Lesson Plans in the format you are accustomed
to using, provided that all the elements listed above are present. An outline
for Unit and Lesson
Plans is available is you would like to use it as a template.
