Ocean Color

The ocean or sea may be different shades of blue for several reasons. Here at the Drake Passage, the warm Pacific waters meet the cold Antarctic waters. The depths of these two areas are similar, but it is possible that the salinity of the waters are different due to the melting of the freshwater icebergs that have floated into the area.

This was the calm before the storm. As we entered the Antarctic Convergence at Drake Passage, the waters became definitely rougher, colder and filled with icebergs.
