Iceberg Calving

Large tabular icebergs calve off of ice shelves or the ends of glaciers. As the summer continues in Antarctica, the icebergs melt and continue to break up, and the sea ice thaws and returns to a chilly 35 degrees F. 

 

Waterboat Point on the west coast of Graham Land, Antarctic Pensinsula. Used to be a British science station from 1944 to 1962.This port is also a gentoo rookery.
