STS Units
for use in the classroom
This unit stresses an understanding of rainforest conservation in cooperation
with the indiginous peoples inhabiting these areas.
Discussion centers around three types of scientists:
*ethnobotanist working to learn about the traditional use of green medicines
*pharmacologist bringing plants into the lab to find their chemical structure
*doctors trying to incorporate traditional medicines into western medical
practices
