Not all Kuwaitis belong to a tribe. Tribal affiliation can be a matter of dispute, and is not always based entirely on genealogical descent. Sunni hadar may be
descended from tribal origins, but do not vote tribally in elections or identify with a tribe politically (instead, Sunni hadar are more likely to identify with their
family).
The Tribe field can be blank for three reasons: (1) information is missing; (2) the individual is Sunni hadar; or (3) the individual is Shi'i.
