The Art History Student League is a student-run organization under the aegis of the Art Student Union at Georgia State University. We are made up of graduate and undergraduate students in the Ernest G. Welch School of Art & Design. That’s right! Membership is not restricted only to students in the Art History Department. Students in the AHSL get a sense of community and support from their peers, resume material and career help. The AHSL also hosts student and faculty symposia and workshops and coordinates trips to various exhibitions.
Wondering what exactly we mean by this? Well, last year we took a group of students to the Birmingham Museum of Art to see the exhibit Pompeii: Tales from an Eruption, we hosted lectures by several faculty members such as Dr. Glenn Gunhouse, Dr. John Decker and Dr. Melinda Hartwig, and we even had the opportunity to sit down with the three candidates for the African Art faculty position and gave our comments to the commitee of who we would like to have teach us.
