Project Healthy Grandparents operates through a combination of home visitation services and interactive group sessions. Participants of the program meet for grandparent support groups and parenting education classes at a variety of locations in Atlanta.
The program is staffed by six full-time professionals, one half-time professional, and three administrative staff persons. On a part-time basis, the program utilizes the talents and skills of registered nurses and social workers enrolled in graduate programs, as well as graduate students from the Colleges of Education, Business, Arts and Sciences, and Law. The project is based on a collaboration model that involves numerous community agencies, including hospitals, substance abuse treatment facilities, day care centers, and juvenile court systems.
