Congratulations to Sarah Justice, B.F.A. '14 on winning first place in the undergraduate division at the National Council on Education for the Ceramic Arts.  


Graphic Design major Matt Phejlada's design was picked for the 2014 Atlanta Jewish Music Festival.  


B.F.A. '09 Temme Barkin-Leeds' show Interference: Reactions to Shooter Video Games opened at Callenwolde Fine Arts Center.  


Congratulations to Interior Design student Meagan Holbert on her selection as a scholarship finalist by NEWH, the Hospitality Industry Network.  


M.F.A. '13 alumna Julia Gray Hines' interactive light sculpture Approach has been installed in the main gallery of the Hickory Museum of Art in Hickory, NC.  The installation is part of the museum's 70th year celebration.


B.F.A. '14 alumna Yanique Norman was featured on GSU's website for her excellent work and practice.  


B.F.A '03 alumna Dory Ingram had work featured in two shows: ROOTS: Underground or in our heads but most certainly, on the wall at the Blue Mark Gallery in Atlanta, and Water:  A Universal Human Right at the Robert Morris State Street Gallery in Chicago, IL.  Both shows were affiliated with the Women's Caucus for Art.


Congratulations M.F.A. candidate, Curtis Ames, winner of the Second Annual Dean's Art Award in the College of Arts & Sciences. Welch School alumna Anya Liftig, M.F.A. gives a talk: Re-Performance at Atlanta Contemporary Art Center. "Simultaneous" exhibits at IV Soldiers in Brooklyn, NY; she performs with Spread Art at ITINERANT in the Bronx, NY. Anya Liftig will perform with Panoply Performance Lab in Berlin for the Month of Performance Art in May 2012. Anya Liftig curates her first performance show at the Center for Performance Research and exhibits a video at RAPID PLUSE festival in Chicago.


Eight Students from the Ernest G. Welch School of Art and Design were selected to take part in the GSU 5th Biennial Cultural Competency Conference Exhibition. The Exhibition opened on April 9, 2012 and runs through May 1, 2012 in the GSU Student Center Gallery Lounge. Participating artists include: Diana Agyei-Kyem (B.F.A. Textiles), Paul Benjamin (M.F.A. Sculpture), Shakya Cheeks (B.F.A. Photography) Namwon Choi (M.F.A. Painting), Brandon English (B.F.A. Photography), Destinee Fisher (B.F.A. Photography), Grace Kim (B.F.A. Painting), Fenton Thompson (B.F.A. Painting).


Ernest G. Welch School of Art and Design,  Masters of Art Education Students, Briana Hargro, Alyssa Myers, Ayana Weekes and Lauren Phillips published their research abstracts in Collage, The Georgia Art Education Association Publication. Their articles can be found on page 2, 14, 15, 20-23.

Welch School alumna, Julia Andrew Cho, M.F.A. and undergraduate student Sarah Justice both had work accepted into the 2012 San Angelo National Ceramic Competition at the San Angelo Museum of Fine Arts in San Angelo, TX. The jurors, renowned critics Garth Clark and Mark Del Vecchio, selected 106 works by 87 artists from a pool of 1385 pieces submitted by 515 artists.
