Area G/ Studio/ Drawing, Painting and Printmaking/ 60 hours total

The following courses are required in Area G for students who are accepted into the drawing, painting, and printmaking concentration. Acceptance to the DPP concentration is determined by application and portfolio review following completion of at least two DPP courses from the following: DPP 2100, 3000, 3050, 3200, 3300. 

 

Concentration Requirements (24-26)

• 3 hr __ DPP 2100 Advanced Drawing
• 3 hr __ DPP 3000 Life Drawing
• 3 hr __ DPP 3050 Introduction to Printmaking
• 3 hr __ ART 3910 Critical Issues in Contemporary Art- CTW fulfills entry level requirement
  
• 3 hr __ ART 3400 Space, Scale, Time: Digital Possibilities. This course may only be taken by students who are already accepted into their BFA Studio Concentration
• 3 hr __Art History: AH 4700 Contemporary Theory & Criticism, or AH 4610 20th Century Modernism and Post Modernism
• 3-4 hr__ 3-4 hr__Electives: any 4000-level Art History course and/or one to two 3000/4000-level Studio courses outside drawing, painting, and printmaking.

Students must elect to follow the drawing and painting emphasis or the printmaking emphasis. Each program of study is described below.

Drawing and Painting Emphasis Requirements (35-36)

• 3 hr __ DPP 3200 Painting with Water Based Media
• 3 hr __ DPP 3300 Painting with Oil Based Media
• 4 hr __ DPP 3600 Drawing Research
• 3 hr __ DPP 4940 Portfolio I
• 3 hr __ DPP 4950 Portfolio II - CTW should be taken in final semester

(1-6 hours) __ ART 4980 Special Problems may be used to adjust program in order to meet 60 hour total in major requirement. Consent of departmental advisor and instructor required.

 

Printmaking Emphasis Requirements (36)

 The following courses are required in Area G for students who are accepted into the printmaking emphasis.

·         4 hr __ DPP 3250 Screen Print and Experimental Printmaking

·         4 hr __ DPP 4500 Directed Study in Drawing and Painting

·         3 hr __ DPP 4940 Portfolio I

·         3 hr __ DPP 4950 Portfolio II - CTW should be taken in final semester
