Full-time 3D Studies/Sculpture Tenure-Track Assistant Professor

The Ernest G. Welch School of Art and Design at Georgia State University invites applications for an anticipated tenure-track Assistant Professor position in 3D Studies/Sculpture to begin August 2010 pending budgetary approval. MFA required. College level teaching experience beyond graduate school preferred.
The successful candidate should be a professionally active artist capable of teaching a broad range of traditional sculpture techniques including foundry, welding and woodworking and have a familiarity with new media and technology on the undergraduate and graduate level. Applicants should also demonstrate an in-depth knowledge of contemporary and critical issues, the role of new media and technology in contemporary sculpture, new developments in the field of sculpture and an expansive vision of the role of sculpture in contemporary art practice. Excellent communication and organizational skills required. College level teaching experience beyond graduate school preferred.
Send cover letter, CV, artist statement, teaching philosophy, sample syllabi, 20 examples each of personal work and student work, names and contact information for 3 references, and SASE. Digital portfolios should be readable on a MAC and a PC. CDs should be clearly labeled and contain 3 folders: one with images of your artwork; one with images of students’ artworks and one with all text files in PDF file format. Images should be clearly labeled and be in JPEG or PDF file format. Hard copies of text files should be included. Email applications will not be accepted.
