Cultural Exchange

Greek University Partnership

Establishing a sustainable partnership between Georgia State and a major Greek university is an important part of the mission of the Center for Hellenic Studies, for through this institutional collaboration the Center will facilitate friendship and intellectual interaction between the United States and Greece. Georgia State has much experience in this area, having formed collaborative agreements with institutions throughout the world. The lesson learned from these relationships is that all parties involved—students, faculty, and local communities—benefit from the international exchange of ideas and practices. Collaborative agreements commonly include a variety of joint academic and educational activities such as the following:

  • Faculty and student exchanges
  • Student internship programs
  • Collaborative research and training

Hellenic Studies Research

The Center for Hellenic Studies seeks to promote research and scholarship that expands understanding of ancient, modern, and contemporary Greek culture. Toward this end, the Center will provide grant opportunities for U.S. and Greek scholars examining Greek language, literature, political theory, philosophy, science, and art. Center events both promote and disseminate research on Hellenic topics. Exchange programs sponsored by the Center will both allow U.S. researchers to carry out field work in Greece and will facilitate ongoing collaboration between American and Greek scholars.
