In order for Georgia State University
employees to obtain a Banner User ID and password, you must complete
the Banner training requirements.
Banner Training Requirements:
New Banner users are required to:
1. Complete the Multimedia Basic Navigation training.
2. Complete the instructor led Student System Query training which will include a Basic Navigation review.
When new users register for the Multimedia Basic Navigation training via the Banner Training website, the Banner Systems office will provide instructions for the Multimedia Basic Navigation training AND sign the user up for the next available instructor lead Student System Query training. The new user's ID will be activated upon completion of the Multimedia Basic Navigation training. However, if the new user fails to complete the instructor led Student System Query training, their ID will be deactivated. To activate the ID, new users must register for the next available instructor led Student System Query training.

Basic Navigation
is used throughout all modules of the system. This course will
cover the basics of how the system is structured, the new terminology
and basic navigation skills used throughout all modules of system
database application via Internet Native Banner (INB). To Register for the Basic Navigation Training course click here: Multimedia

Student
will learn:
- How to navigate
through the system environment using mouse and keyboard
- System basics:
naming conventions, definitions of forms and fields, searching
- On-line
queries:
- how
to query to see if a person already exists in the system
- examine
person information such as address, contact information
- How to access
Help functions
- How to customize
the system by setting up your personal menu

Student
System Query - Required

Student
Query is an introductory overview of the Student System. This
class includes a review of Basic Navigation training, but this training
CANNOT be substituted for Basic Navigation. |

Student System Query Classroom training is a two part course.
The first part (1 hour) is a general review of Basic Navigation.
The second part (2 hour) is the overview of the Student System Query. |
Student will
learn:
- How to view
basic Student System forms for general student academic information.
Target

academic, administrative and support staff who will be using INB
to view general student academic information.

Letter
Generation

Letter
Generation is used throughout all modules of Banner. By building
an inventory of 'generic' paragraphs, you can create a variety
of letters without having to start from scratch each time a
new letter is needed. Once your letters are set up, you can
send them to the desired group of person in Banner by using
the Communications Plan. |

Policy
Clarifications: You must have proper authorization set up in
Banner Security to run reports, processes, letters or population
selection BEFORE you can attend this course. User authorization
is established by authorized staff according to the policies and
procedures defined at the Georgia State University.
This
is a 2-day workshop with a total of 7 hours of in-class training.
The first day of the workshop you will learn how to built your letter.
You will be assigned homework and they must be completed before
you attend the second day of the workshop. The second day of the
workshop you will learn how to generate the letters using the MS
Word mail merge function as well as to set up the Communications
Plan.

the Banner Letter Generation function.

Person Search |

Person Search is an introduction to the methods used to perform a thorough search for a person in Banner. |

Student will learn how to:
- Search using wild cards
- Search using partial names and identification numbers
- Data standards for entering information into Banner
Target Audience: All academic, administrative and support staff who will perform create new person records in Banner.
