Visit Cairo University (July 4-5, 2009)

Meeting with the President of CU

Dean Huss and Dr. Fazlollahi met with Dr. Hossam Kamel, President of Cairo University. They discussed the new international campus to be constructed on 750 acres of land. The President of Cairo University - Prof. Kamel explained the reason for the international campus. CU has invited Robinson College of Business at GSU to become a partner at the new campus and is expecting RCB to participate in a joint degree program. Dean Huss emphasized that in order to get GSU degree, the whole BBA program must be in accordance with the program taught at GSU – the program in Atlanta includes two years of liberal arts studies prior to the students starting the business program in the junior year. Of course there may be additional courses to satisfy special needs of Egypt.

PRCB/GSU welcomes the invitation and will discuss possible collaboration this fall after learning more about the management of the international campus. Dr. Wael Kortam showed the land site of the new international campus to Dean Huss and Dr. Fazlollahi. CU is in the process of attracting international investors for new campus.

The other specialty for partnership expected from GSU is nursing. However, hospitals will most likely have to cover the tuition in nursing as the students will probably not be able to pay tuition.

Visit to the Cairo University Library

Dean Huss and Dr. Fazlollahi toured the very modern new library with access to major databases as well as a facility to show the history of Egypt in panorama large screen.
