On Campus
The Official Student
Handbook 2007-2008
Preface
On Campus is the official student handbook of Georgia State University. It is published by the Division of Student Affairs to provide you with a resource
for campus activities, student life and university procedures. Please note
that, although the information contained here is carefully collected, it will
not substitute for talking with someone with the right answers. Professors,
administrators, counselors and university staff members have chosen this
university as the place for their work, and meeting you is a part of their
experience. In a large university community, many students may come and
go without meeting those who are a part of it. Make every effort you can to
introduce yourself and meet professors, deans and academic advisors. You will be glad you did.The University makes this handbook available to each student and it is your responsibility to become aware of its contents. By enrolling at this institution, you agree to comply with all rules and regulations. Ignorance of a policy or regulation will not be considered an excuse for failure to observe it. Academic policies are covered in the General Catalog; the individual regulations of the various colleges are to be found there as well. The University reserves the right to alter the regulations and policies stated herein through normal channels. Georgia State University does not discriminate on the basis of race, religion, color, sex, age, handicap or ethnic origin in its administration of educational policies, loan and scholarship policies, or any other faculty, staff or student program or activities.
Alma Mater
Alma Mater, we are loyal to the name of Georgia State. Love and honor we accord thee and devotion from our hearts. In respect and veneration we shall always hold thy name. Nurturer of light and knowledge we shall ever tell thy fame. Happy are thy sons and daughters spread abroad throughout the land. Knowing that we are forever part of thine own faithful band. Where the paths of life are crowded, we have known thy pleasant bond; And the love of Alma Mater we shall never pass beyond.
