Overview

Study Abroad Programs, under the direction of the Office of International Affairs, encourages students to expand their education at Georgia State by offering advisement on available opportunities abroad and support throughout the process. As part of the university’s international initiative, the primary goal of the office is to enable students to gain firsthand knowledge and understanding of other areas of the world through immersion in those cultures, while earning credit toward their degrees at home. Opportunities include study and work abroad programs, internships and application for international study scholarships such as the NSEP (National Security Education Program), Gilman and the Georgia State University International Education Fee (IEF) Scholarship Program. Through information sessions or Globe-Trekker Seminars, individual advisement and orientation to an extensive study abroad library, which includes books, brochures,
videos and web access, students are assisted in designing an exciting and quality
study abroad experience.

The office coordinates the approval of and crisis policies for all Georgia State-sponsored study abroad programs. It also serves as a resource for faculty regarding opportunities in international research, teaching, faculty development programs and available grants such as the Fulbright Scholar Program.
