Overview
The Office of Civic Engagement (OCE) provides opportunities for students,
student organizations, faculty and staff to enhance their University experience
by becoming engaged with the local community. The office is committed to
developing active citizens who have an interest in contributing to the “greater
public good” and facilitates service-learning opportunities that strengthen
classroom learning while positively impacting the community.
Extending the time and talents of the University community for the benefit of the etropolitan Atlanta community, the Office of Civic Engagement offers a
multitude of one-day and on-going projects. In addition, Community Service Federal Work Study assignments — with sites such as the Centers for Disease Control, The
Boys and Girls Clubs and Jumpstart — are available through this office.
Volunteers Solutions, an online database provided by the OCE, allows students to pursue individual and group service experiences based on their interests and availability. Volunteer Solutions is accessible through the Office of Civic Engagement Web site, and it allows student/student groups to record their service hours for
future use in group reporting and for developing co-curricular resumes. More than 300 community-based agencies post volunteer services opportunities here.
The Office of Civic Engagement is committed to active citizenship and
facilitating a meaningful experience for Georgia State students.
