Overview
The Department of Recreational Services strives to promote a healthy lifestyle
through recreational sports and fitness activities offered to the University
community, delivering programs, services and facilities that meet or exceed
customer needs. Student Recreation Center (SRC) membership for currently
enrolled students is automatic through student activity fees. Students must
present their Panther ID for entry into the facility.
The SRC is located at 101 Piedmont Avenue between Decatur and Gilmer
Streets. Included in the facility are two gymnasiums, one for basketball and
volleyball, and another that hosts sports such as badminton, roller hockey,
soccer, basketball, volleyball and more. Other features include racquetball courts,
one squash court, aerobic/dance/martial arts studios, free weights, cardio and
selectorized fitness equipment. The game room includes billiards, table tennis, Wii
and darts. Students are encouraged to enjoy the indoor climbing wall, eight-lane
lap pool, leisure pool, spa, sauna, outdoor patio with fenced green space, elevated
jogging track, family changing are a lounge area and vending.
The Indian Creek Recreation Area, which is 25 minutes from campus, offers
students use of tennis courts, children’s play area, sand volleyball court and
cookout areas. The pool and children’s pool, along with a concession stand,
are open from Memorial Day through Labor Day. The Lodge is available for use
for approved department functions and approved events for chartered student
organizations. A usage fee applies. The Lodge is not for personal use.
Panthersville Recreation and Athletic Complex is located 12 miles east of
downtown Atlanta. The facility is used for intramural events. When not scheduled
for intramural activities, the facilities are available for general recreational use by
Georgia State when reserved through Recreational Services.
A variety of services are offered to ensure stress-free and enjoyable
participation in the SRC. Services include, but are not limited to, lockers, uniforms
and towels.
Programming includes drop-in fitness classes (free) such as aerobics, spin,
water aerobics, cardio ball and kickboxing; instructional clinics (small fee) such
as yoga, dance, martial arts and various sport clinics; intramurals, sport clubs,
fitness assessments and personal training, outdoor recreation trips such as fly
fishing, rafting, water skiing/wake boarding, snow skiing, backpacking, day hikes,
horseback riding and equipment rental and aquatic programming.

entire Georgia State community:

- March Madness
- Day in the Park
- Kaiser-Permanente Walk/Run
The RAP-UP, published each semester and located in newsstands around campus, provides details such as up-to-date facility hours, SRC and off-campus programming.
