Overview
Spotlight is the official programming board for Georgia State. Spotlight coordinates
activities that enhance and enrich the quality of student life by addressing the
needs and interests of its diverse student body. A student organization advised
through the Student*University Center, Spotlight is a part of the Division of
Student Affairs and comprises one executive director and eight committees
(Cinefest, Concerts, Graphic Design, Homecoming, Membership, Panther Prowl,
Public Relations and Special Events).
Cinéfest
Cinéfest features top box-office films as well as foreign and experimental films
and classic restorations seven days a week. Located on the second floor of the
University Center, films are free with a Georgia State University Student ID. Look
for the schedule at www.gsu.edu/cinefest.
Concerts
Local talent and top bands are highlighted through a variety of campus events.
The committee is responsible for all technical commitments made by performers’
contracts and associates.
Graphic Design
The Graphics committee is responsible for designing all materials for Spotlight
programs and events.
Homecoming
Homecoming programs held during the annual traditional Homecoming are
organized by the committee in collaboration with many campus organizations
and departments, including the Georgia State University Alumni Association and
the Department of Intercollegiate Athletics. The committee chooses the theme,
plans many of the activities and coordinates a variety of programs to involve
students during this annual event.
Membership
Responsible for coordinating volunteer opportunities with committee chairs for
smooth running of programs.
Panther Prowl
A monthly event organized by the committee which includes novelty acts, bands and specialty events. The purpose of this event is to enhance the Georgia State
community by providing traditional and late-night programming alternatives for students.
Public Relations
The committee promotes Spotlight and its events throughout the Georgia State
and Atlanta communities.
Special Events
The committee implements a variety of programming needs for the Georgia State
community. Past events have included Spring Fling, Murder Mystery Theatre,
Panthers on Ice and the Haunted House, to name a few.
