Paradox Statement: Ongoing research has identified new drug combinations for treating HIV/AIDS. These new medications are extending the early stages of HIV resulting in an improved quality of life by increasing T cell count and significantly reducing viral load. However, research has also documented that a person can be simultaneously infected with two HIV types (Super-infection). Such Super-infection is blocking the effectiveness of newly identified combination drugs.
