Anneliese A. Singh, Ph.D., LPC, NCC is an assistant professor in the Department of Counseling and Human Development Services at The University of Georgia. She received her doctorate in counseling psychology from Georgia State University in 2007. Her clinical, research, and advocacy interests include: LGBTQ youth, Asian American/Pacific Islander counseling and psychology, multicultural counseling and social justice training, qualitative methodology with historically marginalized groups (e.g., people of color, LGBTQ, immigrants), feminist theory and practice, and empowerment interventions with survivors of trauma. Dr. Singh is the Past-President of the Association of Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, and Transgender Issues (ALGBTIC) and during her presidency established efforts to support queer people of color and develop counseling competencies with transgender people. She is the recipient of the 2007 Ramesh and Vijaya Bakshi Community Change Award, 2008 O’Hana Award from Counselors for Social Justice (CSJ), and the 2009 Kitty Cole Human Rights Award from the Association of Multicultural Counseling and Development for her organizing work to end child sexual abuse in South Asian communities, increase visibility of South Asian LGBTQ people, and develop transgender-positive approaches in counseling.
