I am not Hispanic or Latino! Why is it that, in this country, I have to be part of that category. I have a specific country with it’s own culture and it’s own history and we have our own heroes. I hate it here, sometimes. Although I don’t remember what it was like when we left and came here, I do know that I was just Hernando there. I guess if I have to choose one of those terms, it would be Hispanic because my family is from Spain originally. In my country, we’re more European. Here they call it “White” so I guess that’s what I am. But I’m more than just Hispanic. I am from my parent’s country and I am of this country, too. |
