When I was younger, my parents used to talk a lot about the home they left behind to come here, but now we’re more a part of the larger Latino group, from many countries.  It’s true.  We are Latino.  There is a reality that we all have in common: similar music, similar foods, similar attitudes toward things like family and God and strength.  And, regardless of what country our parents come from or their parents, we often suffer the same discrimination and stereotyping.  That makes us one group, in addition to all the diversity among us.   Naturally, there are differences between us, but they are not as strong as the experiences that bind us together as Latinos in this country.
