Policies

The policies of the Digital Aquarium are enforced to provide a peaceful work environment for all students of Georgia State University.

  • Everyone entering the lab must SIGN IN. / Everyone leaving the lab must SIGN OUT.
  • Non-Georgia State students cannot be in the Aquarium

    Exceptions - Georgia State Alumni, UGA or GA Tech "Affiliates", Guided Tours, Conference Attendees or prior written consent from Lab Coordinator.

  • Only Georgia State students can reserve computers, camera equipment, audio suite, and conference room.
  • Staff and Faculty can use the resources, though students have priority access.
  • Staff and Faculty cannot reserve or check out equipment without prior approval of Lab Coordinator
  • No food or drinks in the lab.
  • Headphones must be used at all times. Do not to disrupt fellow students. Voices must be kept quiet.
  • Students must attend the photography and video workshops in order to reserve advance camera equipment.
  • Do not unplug any wires attached to computers, audio or video equipment. Ask for Assistance.
  • There is a limit of five people in the audio suite.
  • Limit two reservations at any one -time for cameras, workstations or the audio suite.
  • Students may reserve one four-hour block of time or two, two-hour blocks each day.
  • Students must use Panther Cash to pay for printing.
  • Illegal content will not be produced using lab equipment.
  • All media produced in the lab is copyrighted by its producer and may not be used without consent.
  • Media stored on lab computers may be reviewed by lab administrators without consent.
  • No one may delete or move another student's project(s) without consent from the Aquarium Coordinator.
  • Students may not download or install applications on the workstations.
  • Projects must be stored in a folder on DaySpace, Video RAID, or VideoSAN.
  • Files saved to the Desktop, Documents, Movies, Photos, Music or PantherHD will be auto erased.
  • Students may not use the workstations to download illegal music.
  • Copyrighted materials only may be used for farce, satire and/or educational purposes.
  • Ripping entire copyrighted CDs, DVDs or VHS tapes is illegal and prohibited at the Aquarium.
  • There will be no peer-to-peer or server exchange software on the workstations.
  • Microsoft Office is not installed on the workstations. There are other labs on campus for word processing.
  • The Aquarium is not responsible for students' property. Lost items will go into a lost and found.
  • Students must present a valid student ID to checkout resources: headphones, books, videos, CDs, etc.
  • Training resources cannot be taken out of the Aquarium. They are here for everyone.
  • Students CANNOT leave their items (hats, clothes, food, drinks, etc.) with the front desk.
  • Bikes, skateboards, or other transportation must be left at the entry, not brought into the lab.

 

The Digital Aquarium is completely funded by your Student Technology Fee
and is a service provided by the University Educational Technology Services
