The Georgia State University Department of Communication, one of the largest departments of its kind in the United States, is a center of excellence in research, teaching and service located in the heart of downtown Atlanta, Georgia.

With almost 40 tenure-track faculty and 10 full time lecturers, our growing faculty currently serves over 60 Ph.D., 120 MA, and 1600 undergraduate majors.  Located near major communication centers such as CNN, the Martin Luther King Center for Non-Violent Social Change, and the Jimmy Carter Library, each year our Department provides instruction to thousands of Georgia State students in journalism, film, public relations, theater, media studies, cultural studies, and rhetoric.

Our faculty and graduate students are among the best in the nation, consistently receiving recognition from the National Communication Association, the International Communication Association, the Association for Education in Journalism and Mass Communication, the Society for Cinema and Media Studies, and other regional, national and international communication associations.
