Tim’s dissertation, Masks and Sartre’s Imaginary: Masked Performance and the Imaging Consciousness ties Sartre’s theories of the imagination to the process of acting with masks and the forming of identity itself. He has developed research from this dissertation that has been published in the journals Ecumenica and Communication and Social Change. He has studied improvisation with Seattle Theatresports and masked performance with Gateway Performance Productions. His most recent production using masks was the production of Medea at Clark Atlanta University using masks he created himself.
In addition to his mask work, Dr. Tims acts and directs professionally as well as on the GSU stage. His most recent roles include Titus in Titus Andronicus and Creon in Antigone. He has directed productions of Lysistrata, Writing in the Sand, and Lady Han, an adapted Noh drama. He is currently scheduled to direct The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee for GSU this fall.
