NEED LEVERAGE? Hollywood Producer/ Writer Dean Devlin (Independence Day) and Actor Aldis Hodge (Friday Night Lights) will talk about their work on Leverage, a new drama series on TNT premiering in December.
NOVEMBER:
Lecture: Gregory Flaxman. November 3, 3-4:15pm, 1020 - 1PP.
Title: "The Philosophy of Friendship." Dr. Flaxman’s work is grounded in critical theory and philosophy, the psychoanalytic tradition, narratology and aesthetic theory. His most recent volume, Deleuze and the Philosophy of the Cinema, is now in its third edition.
Lecture: Caroline Frick, November 7, 12:00pm, 1020 - 1PP.
Dr. Frick is the founder and executive director of the Texas Archive of the Moving Image. She will speak on the broader historical and logistical issues arising when one seeks to archive the ephimeral products of the film and broadcast industries.
OCTOBER:
Lecture: Richard Maltby, October 13, 4-5:00pm, 1020 - 1PP.
Dr. Maltby, the author of Renovating Cinema History, will provide an overview of recent historical work in writing the history of cinema distribution and exhibition, and the histories of cinema's audiences. His talk will explore some of the issues raised by writing historical studies of cinema that are not centrally about films, and discuss some of the opportunities that this new perspective provides for reconsidering the history of early and Classical Hollywood cinema. Maltby is Professor of Screen Studies and Deputy Head of the Faculty of Education, Humanities, Law and Theology at Flinders University, South Australia.

Bornstein, transgender activist and author, will be speaking about her book Hello Cruel World.
AUGUST:
Lecture: Tom Luse, August 26, 1:30-2:30pm, DAEL Theater - 1PP.
Luse, who is a major film and television producer from Atlanta, will speak about the path to becoming a successful producer. His credits include: Everwood, Jeepers Creepers I & II, The Time Shifters, & Reinventing the Wheelers.
