Complaint:

The formal complaint from Georgia State University alleged that Pi Kappa Alpha Fraternity, a chartered student organization, participated in a Saturday, March 31, 2007 PIKE BIKE dance competition and an intramural sports competition on Sunday, April 1, 2007. The alleged participation in these activities violated an interim suspension that was enacted on Friday, March 30, 2007.

Alleged Violation of Georgia State University 's Student Code of Conduct Section III General Conduct Policies and Procedures, Subsection A. Prohibited General Conduct

22. Failure to respond as directed by the Dean of Students on any matter including, but not limited to, a request to meet concerning an issue, or a notice alleging a violation by the Student Code of Conduct.

Results:

The Student Judicial Board held a disciplinary hearing on Friday, April 27, 2007.

Based upon the information and evidence presented at the judicial hearing, the Student Judicial Board found Pi Kappa Alpha Fraternity responsible for violation of Section III(a)22 of Georgia State University Student Code of Conduct. The Dean of Students upheld the finding of the Student Judicial Board and the recommended sanction as indicated below:

•  Suspension of University Charter – Effective immediately Pi Kappa Alpha's charter is suspended from Georgia State University until the end of Spring 2008, ending on Monday, May 12, 2008 . During this temporary severance of your student organization's relationship with the University, Pi Kappa Alpha may not exercise any of the privileges accorded to chartered organizations including, but not limited to use of the Student University facilities. Please make arrangements with Dr. Richard Heller, Executive Director of the Student University Center , to remove your organization's belongings for your chapter room as soon as possible, but no later than May 21, 2007. Upon the conclusion of your suspension, if you would like to renew your University charter, you must submit a request in writing pre the Student Code of Conduct, Section IV G Chartering Student Organizations.
