| The Office of African American
Student Services and Programs is an office dedicated
to the recruitment and retention of minority students
here at Georgia State University. This office is also
committed to developing student leadership through over
a dozen student based-organizations such as the National
Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP),
National Council of Negro Women (NCNW), Black Student
Alliance (BSA), Minority Pre-Med/Pre-Dental, Black Student
Theater Ensemble, Minority Graduate Student Alliance
(MGSA), Conscious Collective, and the Vineyard of Praise
Gospel Choir. We see ourselves as an integral part of
the academic and social growth of all students of color
at Georgia State. |

| The Office of Civic Engagement (OCE) serves as a community service/service-learning clearinghouse, empowering students to make a difference by linking them to the needs of our community. OCE bridges the gap between city, university, students and metropolitan Atlanta residents. It is through OCE that students, faculty and staff can become involved in campus-wide, community, and national community service efforts. |

| Housing accommodations
for single undergraduate students are available in the
Georgia State University Commons and in the University
Lofts. Brand-new for Fall 2007, the University Commons is a 4.2-acre complex of four apartment buildings ranging from 8 to 15 stories surrounding a large landscaped courtyard. Located in walking distance from classrooms, the Student*University Center and the Student Recreation Center, the University Commons will house 2,000 students in contemporary two and four bedroom furnished apartments. The University
Lofts, which opened in August 2002, is home to faculty,
staff, international, graduate and undergraduate students
21 and over and those with families. For more information,

Intercultural Relations
seeks to advance the mission and goals of Georgia State
University through the design, implementation and assessment
of programs and activities that reflect differences
in race, ethnicity, culture, gender, sexual orientation,
age, people with disabilities, social class, spirituality
and nationality. The office strives to offer an intercultural
education that everyone can embrace and learn from in
dealing with diversity. In addition, the office provides
diversity programs and activities that reflect contributions
to the social, cultural and academic climate of the
university and the community at large. |

| New Student
Programs and Parent Relations provides Incept: New Student Orientation program
that assists new students with their transition into
Georgia State University. The program provides academic
group advisement, Student Affairs information, student
leadership opportunities, campus tours and assistance
with class registration. To meet the diverse needs of
Georgia State’s undergraduate students, Incept
offers several orientation opportunities. The orientation
schedule includes 13 Freshmen conferences, five Transfer Express
conferences, and two consolidated Freshmen and Transfer
conference. |

| Want to have some fun? Check out the Student Recreation Center for free fitness classes like step, cardio ball, kickboxing and water aerobics. For a small fee you can learn yoga, take various dance classes, martial arts, learn-to-swim or sport classes. Sign up for a fitness assessment, personal training and cholesterol screeening in the Fitness Center located in room 150 of the SRC. Take a hike, go horseback riding, raft down the Ocoee or rent some camping equipment from our Touch the Earth program. Meet others with similar interests by joining our intramural or sport club program. You can even go swimming or join in a just-for-fun sand volleyball game at our Indian Creek Recreation Area located on South Indian Creek Drive (Indian Creek MARTA station).

| The Student•University
Center is comprised of two facilities: The University
Center and the Student Center.
Inside the StudentUniversity Center patrons will find
facilities and services designed to meet the needs of
the campus community. These include versatile meeting
spaces, clean and comfortable lounges, convenient and
affordable food courts, and facilities, such as the
state-of-the-art Digital Aquarium. By centralizing these
conveniences, the StudentUniversity Center provides
an environment conducive to intellectual, social, cultural,
and recreational development of the campus community.
This development occurs through informal interaction
and the planning, implementation and participation in
a wide array of programs. |
